KINGDOMS
- Melchizedek
Melchizedek was the King of Salem, a city whose name means peace. This city
is considered the forerunner of Jerusalem. King David waged a war for
this city that was controlled by the Jebusites, and conquered it. He
established it as his home and the center of government of a united Israel.
He brought the Ark of the Covenant there and put it in a tent with 24 hr.
praise and worship. He requested and received the plans from God for the
temple. He also collected the raw materials for the temple, which his son,
Solomon, was to build.
Melchizedek's kingdom was one of righteousness and peace. In "Names"
comparison I discuss the meaning of Melchizedek in great detail.
This city, which has lasted until today as Jerusalem, has so many
unfulfilled prophecies concerning it as well every religion wanting control
of it.. Much of the Psalms is given to praise and declaration of God's
intent to make Jerusalem and Zion His permanent dwelling. It is to be the
governmental center of Christ's 1,000 year reign of peace. It is so precious
to the Father that He has promised a "new" Jerusalem that will descend from
heaven. It is referred to as the bride of Christ. This is the city that
embodies Melchizedek's reign.
Reveiation 21: 9,10 Then one of the angels who had the seven bowls filled
with the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, "Come, I
will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife." And he carried me away in the
Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy
Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
That this city has the original name of Melchizedek's city, is amazing. It
has its root in Shalem #7999 - meaning to be safe (in mind, body, or estate)
to be completed, to be friendly, to make amends, to finish, to make good, to
be at peace, make prosper, recompense, make restitution, restore, reward.
The
"Jeru" part means: founded and possessed. So the name of Jerusalem alone
indicates its founding and possession is in safety, peace and prosperity
with restoration to completeness. This is the substance of Melchizedek's
Kingdom past-present-future
Kingdom - Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ's kingdom is also a kingdom of righteousness and peace and it
includes the whole world.
(Psam 2 NKJV) {16} "Yet I have
set My King On My holy hill of Zion." 17 I will declare the decree: The LORD
has said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 18 Ask of Me,
and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for
Your possession.
Much of Jesus' recorded ministry is spent on the topic The Kingdom of God
(or Heaven). It is recorded in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I
like the Naves Topical Bible's definition.
Kingdom Of God
The
sovereign rule of God manifested in Christ to defeat His enemies, creating a
people over whom He reigns, and issuing in a realm or realms in which the
power of His reign is experienced.
All
they are members of the kingdom of God who voluntarily submit to the rule of
God in their lives. Entrance into the kingdom is by the new birth (John
3:3-5)
There are two stages in the kingdom of God: present and future in an
eschatological sense; Jesus said that his ability to cast out demons was
evidence that the kingdom of God had come among men
M't
12:28
"Christ in
you the hope of Glory". Col.1:27
is really
the capstone of the kingdom.
The kingdom is: God dwelling in His
people
The
term "kingdom of heaven" is often used synonymously with "kingdom of God" in
the Bible.
The
"Kingdom of God" is a more comprehensive term embracing all created
intelligence's both in heaven and on earth who are willingly subject to God
and thus in fellowship with Him. The "kingdom of heaven" generally describes
any type of rulership God may assert on the earth at a given period.
